Opener Resources

Garage Door Opener Lineup & Guides

We install the Genie opener lineup below with every new door or as a standalone upgrade. The differences come down to two questions: do you want to control it from your phone, and do you want it to work when the power’s out?

Genie 2028H

The Reliable Base Model

No WiFi, no battery backup, no frills - just a quiet, dependable opener at the lowest price point. If you want a remote and a wall button that simply work for years, this is it.

Genie 21282TX

WiFi Smart Opener

Aladdin Connect WiFi built in - open, close, and check your door from your phone, get alerts when it operates, and grant access to family or deliveries. No battery backup.

Genie 2128WB

WiFi + Battery Backup

Everything the 21282TX does, plus a battery backup that keeps the door running through an Oklahoma ice storm outage. The only difference between the two is the battery - and it’s worth it.

Maintenance & DIY

Safe DIY Checks Every Homeowner Should Know

These checks are safe to do yourself, take a few minutes, and catch most problems before they strand your car in the garage. The honest line: lubrication, sensor cleaning, and testing are homeowner jobs - springs, cables, and anything under tension are not.

With the door fully closed, pull the red release cord to disconnect the opener. Lift the door by hand to about waist height and let go. A balanced door stays put; a door that slams down or flies up has a spring problem, and that’s your cue to call us - an unbalanced door wears out the opener and can be dangerous. Reconnect the opener by pulling the cord toward the door, then running the opener through one cycle.

The two small “eyes” near the floor on each side of the door must see each other for the door to close. Wipe each lens with a soft dry cloth, check that both indicator lights are solid (not blinking), and gently nudge a bracket back into line if one light is out. If the door still reverses or won’t close after cleaning and aligning, the wiring or sensor itself may be failing - that one’s a quick service visit.

Twice a year: lubricate rollers, hinges, and springs with garage door lubricant (not WD-40 - it’s a cleaner, not a lubricant), snug up any loose track and hinge bolts you can reach, inspect the weatherstripping along the bottom for cracks, and run the balance test above. Watch and listen while the door cycles - grinding, scraping, or a door that shudders in the tracks is telling you something. Our full guide: proper garage door maintenance.

Torsion springs, cables, bottom brackets, and drums are under hundreds of pounds of tension - they’re the parts that send DIYers to the ER. If the door is crooked, slammed shut, has a visible spring gap, or a frayed cable, stop and call. Read why in the real dangers of DIY spring replacement. Repairs like these are same or next-day for us, in Tulsa and OKC metro: (918) 234-3667 / (405) 525-3667.

Buying Guide

What to Ask When Shopping for a New Door

Four questions separate an informed buyer from a frustrated one. Ask these of any company quoting you a door - including us.

What R-value do I need?

Insulation matters more in Oklahoma than almost anywhere - 100-degree summers and ice storms in the same year. Single-layer doors are R-0; good double and triple-layer doors run R-9 to R-13. If your garage is attached, shares a wall with living space, or has a room above it, insulation pays for itself.

Which material fits my home?

Steel is the durable, affordable default. Fiberglass resists rust and moisture and fakes wood beautifully. Full-view aluminum suits modern homes. Wood overlay gives real warmth on a steel backbone. There’s no wrong answer - only wrong matches for your style and budget.

What’s included in the price?

A real installation quote includes the door, ALL new hardware (tracks, rollers, springs, drums, cables), haul-away of your old door, and the labor warranty - in writing. If any of those are “extra,” you’re not comparing the same job. Ours includes all of it, with a 5-year parts and labor warranty.

Will it pay me back?

A new garage door is consistently one of the highest-ROI home improvements - over 90 percent of the cost recouped at resale per Remodeling Magazine, plus the curb appeal and security you get every day in between. It’s the rare upgrade you enjoy now AND get paid back for later.
