The checklist in plain text

  1. Rollers (lubricate) - Spray the bearing where each roller meets its stem. One short shot per roller, both sides of the door, then wipe off the drip.
  2. Hinges (lubricate) - One shot on each hinge pivot, right where the two halves fold. Open and close the door once to work it in.
  3. Springs (lubricate) - A light coat along the top of the coils keeps them from binding and rusting. Spray, then run the door once.
  4. Bearings (lubricate) - One shot on the bearing at each end of the shaft, and on the center bearing between the springs.
  5. Tracks (wipe clean) - Wipe the inside of both tracks with a dry rag. That is all they need.
  6. Cables (check) - Look at the cable near the bottom corner on each side. You are checking for frayed or rusty strands.
  7. Bottom seal (check) - Check the rubber seal along the bottom edge for cracks, flat spots, or daylight showing underneath.
  8. Balance and safety check (we do this) - This one is ours. A technician disconnects the opener, checks that the springs hold the door balanced, tests the safety reverse, and tightens and adjusts the hardware. It takes tools and training, so it is not on your list.
